I assumed that -map_chapters 3 would take the 4th input (the chapters file) and just copy it over to both outputs, but when I inspect the encoded files there is no metadata stream for the chapter marks. Hi Im using AVStoDVD to convert several MP4 files to one DVD. But, to try to use that info, I executed this command: Code: ffmpeg -i X.mp4 -i chapters.txt -mapmetadata 1 -mapchapters 1 -movflags disablechpl -c copy Z.mp4. f tee "output_stereo.mkv|output_5.1.mkv" That has sorta been left behind as we pursued the conversion using HandBrake and the resulting MP4 having chapter names in the data stream. If your mp4 player got confused by this, you can disable copying of chapters with -mapchapters -1. But a proper player can distinguish between them, as ffmpeg/ffprobe do: They show it as data stream (notice the 'Data:'), not as subtitle. map 0:v -map 1:a -c:a copy -map 2:a -c:a copy -map_chapters 3 \ That it appears as a subtitle stream is an oddity of mp4, where chapters and subtitles are muxed similarly. Here is what I am trying to map: video.mov -> output_stereo.mkvĪnd here's my FFMPEG command: -i video.mov -i stereo.wav -i 5.1.wav -i chapters.txt \ In the absence of any map options for a particular output file, ffmpeg inspects the output format to check which. Because the video file only needs to be encoded once I am using tee muxing for efficiency, however this means I need to explicitly map my streams and for some reason the chapters stream seems to be getting lost. If you also need metadata from the video and audio streams (for example if the global metadata does not contain the creation time) use: ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -c copy -mapmetadata 0 -mapmetadata:s:v 0:s:v -map. location use export FFMPEG/usr/bin/ffmpeg or whatever is appropriate for your. You can save the global metadata to a text file using the -f ffmetadata option as follows: ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -f ffmetadata in.txt. I am trying to encode 2 video files from: 1 source video, 2 source audio files, and 1 source chapter marks file. chaptermarkers will creat chapter markers in MP4 files from a text file.
